Earth to Schleich

I confess, I like Schleich toys. Or as I prefer to call them Schleich plastic vinyl scale models.

But, anyway. I have one message for Schleich.

You see this figure depicting a woman who is apparently married to a farmer, jointly owns a farm with him, lives on that farm and is doing farm work? This is not a "farmers wife", this is a farmer who just happens to be female.

Wake up and smell the equality.

Looking at the rest of their range, they do at least have a veterinarian who is female, but that's about as far as it goes. The riding instructor is male, the horse carer is female...

I think I'd rather be a farmers wife than a female farmer though! Just kidding- farming seems like alot of work!

I think I agree with Maureen! Don't know about equality on that topic..but women do that and more!

Shouldn't it be "farmer's wife"? The possessive apostrophe is important ... as it signifies ownership.

Even the phrase "co-farmer's lifestyle partner of no specified gender" can still be possessive ;)

I bought the non-gender-specific dinosaurs instead.

Farming is hard work for anyone.

Non-gender specific dinosaurs?

I think you may have discovered the reason the became extinct!!!

You certainly don't see a "farmer's husband" on their list!

I hate it when companies mess up on gender issues like that.

Perhaps we are reading too much into the toy!
